The RRB Group D 2026 exam is a 90-minute, 100-question computer-based test (CBT) assessing General Science, Maths, Reasoning, and General Awareness, with a 1/3 negative marking for errors. RRB Group D Examination is conducted by the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) to appoint candidates for Level 1 posts like Pointsman, Assistant, Track Maintainer, Assistant Loco Shed, and other Indian Railways jobs. It's a wonderful chance for 10th-pass students to become part of Indian Railways.

There are 32,438 nationwide vacancies for various Level 1 posts. These range from Pointsman to Assistant, Track Maintainer to Assistant Loco Shed, and Assistant Operations among others.

You will have to make online applications only on the proper RRB portal website (https://www.rrbapply.gov.in). Please check RRB portal for registration dates.

You will require the following documents:

  • Scanned passport photo and signature
  • 10th or ITI certificate as proof of educational qualification
  • Government-issued ID proof (Aadhar card, PAN card, etc.)
  • Category certificate (if necessary)
  • Disability certificate (if necessary)

Applicants for RRB Group D should be 18 to 36 years of age as of January 1, 2026. Here is the bifurcation for you:

  • General: 18-36 years
  • OBC (Non-creamy layer): 18-39 years
  • SC/ST: 18-41 years

The candidates can apply for the RRB Group D exam 2026 on the official online website. Here's how to do it step by step:

1. Go to the official website of the Railway Recruitment Board (www.rrbapply.gov.in).

2. Click on the "Apply Online" option for RRB Group D.

3. Register by providing the mandatory details such as your name, date of birth and contact details.

4. Complete the application form and upload the documents required (photograph, signature and educational qualification).

5. Pay the application fee online.

6. Send the application form and keep a copy for reference.

The selection process for RRB Group D includes:

1. Computer Based Test (CBT): You will be given questions in subjects such as General Science, Math, Reasoning, and General Knowledge.

2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET): This will test your physical fitness.

3. Medical Examination: A medical checkup to ensure you are fit for the job.

For RRB Group D selection, CBT will be held in 13 languages such as:

  • English, Hindi
  • Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati
  • Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam
  • Marathi, Odia, Punjabi
  • Tamil, Telugu, Urdu

Your admit card for CBT will be made available 10 days prior to the exam date. In case you pass the PET, you will receive the admit card for that too. The admit cards will be downloadable on the official website of RRB.

For RRB Group D, you should :

  • Have passed at least 10th class or
  • Hold an ITI certificate or
  • Possess National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) issued by NCVT
  • Applicants should also satisfy the age and nationality criteria as well from the notification
